There’s less than a week to go until Bristol’s original and best Vintage Wedding Fair. Come down to the Clifton Pavilion at Bristol Zoo Gardens this Sunday, 16th March, 2014 between 10.30am and 4.00pm for a feast of vintage style wedding inspiration. I’ll be there with a selection of couture wedding dresses from all of my collections as well as some new separate pieces, flower girl dresses made from my favourite bridal fabrics, beautiful vintage veils and brand new accessories from Klaire Van Elton and Nickie Portman. Other exhibitors will be displaying original, vintage items as well as vintage inspired pieces. Have a look at the Bristol Vintage blog to see who else will be there. The £1 entry fee includes a raffle ticket for the prize draw so make sure you get there by 2.30pm for your chance to win fantastic prizes from all the exhibitors including Hotel du Vin, Bristol ( I wish I could enter!). All the proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Society. And if that isn’t enough of an incentive you can tie it in with a trip to the Zoo… go see the Red Pandas they are so cute!
Well, the last two weeks have been a whirlwind of wedding fairs with a difference. First came Bristol’s brand new Weird and Wonderful Wedding World Show which showcased a whole range of unusual suppliers from corsetieres to taxidermists! Then London’s A Most Curious Wedding Fair over an entire weekend at the ubercool Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. I’ve met some brilliant people, inspiring wedding creators from all over the UK and lots of lovely brides and grooms to be. It’s always exciting to get out of my studio and take some of my creations out and about and I’ve returned a little tired but inspired and refreshed and buzzing to create more adventurous wedding dresses.
Each of the shows was so epic that they most definitely deserve reviews of their own. So watch this space for more details and images from the host of talented photographers on hand at both shows.
I’m really excited about exhibiting at A Most Curious Wedding Fair and spreading my wings and my wedding dresses to the big smoke of London to reach ‘expressive, style savvy and fashion-forward couples’.
I couldn’t put it better myself, so here’s how Becky and Gemma describe their show: ‘A Most Curious has a love affair with fashion and evolves and follows it wherever it may go. A Most Curious has taken a solemn vow to bring brides and grooms the very latest fashions, with the foresight to be changeable, en vogue and never tired or standing still. If it’s beautiful, fresh, fun and cool or just about to be cool, we will incorporate it into our wedding fair so it can, in turn, be incorporated into your big day. Most Curious and it’s handpicked exhibitors draw inspiration from the lifestyle trends around us, your lifestyle trends, not weddings trends, weddings shouldn’t have trends, they should be about you having fun and being creative, dreaming big and most importantly an expression and celebration of who you are as a couple.’
With fashion shows, entertainment, styling, activities, music and performance this should be a really fun and inspiring event. So pop along to the Truman Brewery just off Brick Lane, London on Saturday 20th or Sunday 21st April 2013. For more information have a look at www.amostcuriousweddingfair.co.uk
I’m really looking forward to exhibiting at Bristol’s first alternative Wedding Show on Saturday 13th April from 6pm-11pm. The show is being organised by the inspirational duo of Ali from Bristol Vintage and Emily from Fishee Designs photobooths.
There’ll be a host of wedding dress designers offering corsetry, 50s retro and gothic inspired gowns also appearing at the show. I’ll be showing some of my Japanese inspired pieces as well as a few brand new designs. I’ll also be on hand to talk about bespoke commissions however weird and wonderful. Share your ideas with me and I’ll come up with some unique wedding dress designs to help you express your true self and stand out from the crowd on your wedding day.
The show will be held at the @Bristol Science Museum. Entry is free if you pre-register or £5 on the night and you’ll receive a free glass of Kir Royale on arrival. You don’t have to be getting married to enjoy the show as there’ll be entertainment throughout the evening and some of the best alternative fashion labels in the country. You’ll also get to play on some of the exhibits in the museum and watch a star canopied fashion show in the Planetarium. This promises to be a wedding show unlike any other and a fun evening for all!
For more information about the show, to pre-register and to see a sneak preview of the amazing promotional photoshoot go to the weird and wonderful blog.
I’ve just received this lovely poster for a wedding show I’ll be exhibiting at on Saturday 29th September 2012. It’s taking place at the Southville Centre, Beauley Road, Southville, Bristol, BS3 1QG. It’s a beautiful old listed school building which can also be hired as a quirky wedding venue. This will be a great opportunity for you to pick up lots of ideas to make your day really special with an emphasis on handmade and locally sourced suppliers. I’ll be there with some of my wedding dresses and lots of design inspiration. Looking forward to seeing you there!
